Dear Brother
September 2007
Since these Bulletins started in March this year some difficulty has been experienced in its circulation throughout both Provinces 1 and 17; hopefully this has been overcome and we request that Circle Presidents and Secretaries make every effort to distribute this bulletin to all their Brothers
Stewarding
The stewarding team wish to thank all those Brothers and their families who have volunteered to be stewards next year. This is a most important job to make the Conference run smoothly. More stewards are needed and if you can help, please contact either Brother Peter Smith of Stockport Circle or Brother Brian Hampshire of Oldham Circle.
Marketing
We have featured Manchester in the August and September issues of Catena with details on the attractions of our City, and in particular of the Conference and Mass at the Bridgewater Hall. Through to April next year there will be further monthly articles in Catena to highlight the attractions of our Conference. Please look out for them and ‘Spread the Word’!
The booking form will be included with the November issue of Catena and there will be a rush for accommodation and tickets for events; it is important for Brothers to respond at the earliest opportunity to secure places, this year including tickets for two Masses.
Exhibition
You will have read the recent letters in Catena about the aims of the Exhibition. In response, Brother John Woodhouse of Rochdale Circle has received a trickle of offers of memorabilia; we now need a flood of offers to make this exhibition worthy of our centenary celebrations. If you can help please contact John as a matter of urgency.
Ladies Tours
These have now been finalised and will highlight the culture and history of our North-West heritage. Expert guides will be in attendance and we are confident the ladies will enjoy their ‘Manchester Experience’.
Home Hosting
Thanks to all Brothers and wives who have agreed to look after our visitors. A programme of meetings and events has been put together for the few days before and after the Conference weekend, and this will be sent out to our Brothers overseas and also to all home hosters.
Centenary Website
We will shortly be commissioning a website for Centenary information; this will be linked to the new Catenian website due to commence next month.
Look Out For an article in the October issue of Catena where Brother Peter Rand, our Conference Hotel Advisor, will be giving details of the hotels and social events. The November issue will contain a personal invitation from our Grand Vice President David Taylor with his thoughts on the Centenary celebrations.
Fraternally yours
The Manchester Centenary Liaison Committee
