Covid-Secure Restrictions

¨ Given the risks of the pandemic that currently persist, and limits on numbers in church, Catholics may judge they are unable to attend Sunday (and Holy Day) Mass at this time. These risks constitute a valid reason to stay away, without sin.

¨ Numbers in Church are strictly limited by social distancing measures to 60 persons (or more if in groups to a maximum of 50% capacity) - and stewards will control seating and movement; two metres distance is still required between groups; once the Church is full no extra persons are allowed inside.

¨ Face masks or coverings are to be worn in Church.

¨ Anyone showing symptoms must not attend Church.

¨ You must still follow all Covid-secure restrictions in Church even after being vaccinated (e.g. wearing face coverings)

  • NEWS AND NOTES
  • From Tuesday we are back to our normal timetable: weekday Masses Tuesday – Friday at 9.30 a.m.,
Saturday at 6.30 p.m. (no 12.00 noon for the moment) and Sunday 9.00 and 11.00 a.m.
There are still no refreshments after Sunday Masses, since we still can’t use the Parish Centre.
The delay in removing restrictions means that, apart from this, we will be sticking to the current procedures.
Hopefully when 19th July comes around things will be different, but as always we must be patient!

I hope you are all well, and as and when things unlock, I look forward to seeing you in Church again soon!

    With prayers and best wishes,

    Fr James (and Arthur)

Please pray for each other, and especially those who are ill or afraid.
If you require help please do not hesitate to telephone
    Father James on 01706 645361

Please pray at home, watch YouTube or online services if you can, and if the vaccination programme does all that has been promised it won’t be long before we are heading back to some degree of normality. In the meantime, please stay safe! With my constant prayers and best wishes,

Fr James. Saint Vincent de Paul, Norden (01706 645361)

Guidelines for Mass

YOUNG ADULTS VOCATIONS GROUP
A new young adults group (18+) has been established in the Diocese to provide young adults with an informal, but structured environment in which to discern, ‘what are you looking for?’ Read More.....

ROCHDALE FOODBANK
… continues to welcome food donations. Homelessness has not gone away in this crisis. The Foodbank can also use money donations to buy food. The location that you can use to donate food is: Staff Entrance, Number One Riverside, accessed by vehicles from  Smith Street near to Mecca Bingo. It is manned 24 hours

GIFT AID COSTS YOU ABSOLUTELY NOTHING
If you are a taxpayer and you sign a Gift Aid Form the Parish gets 25% of your contribution back from the government.
It is as simple as that!
Your information is confidential and, while it would be great if you could contribute every week, it is not essential; the amount reclaimed from the taxman is based on the amount donated and not on any fixed weekly amount. All that is needed is that you sign a confidential form available from Fr. James or Mike Rowley (contact details on GROUPS page) and return it to them. Only 50% of our weekly collection is Gift Aided so we are losing out on a very significant free handout from the taxman.Read more....

 HOPE IN THE FUTURE
At St Vincents, we hope to make everyone feel welcome among us particularly through our welcomers at Sunday Masses. In order to emphasise this, we have designed and produced a Welcome Leaflet available in trifold format HERE. It is also available on the Diocesan Hope in the Future Resources website. It is particularly aimed at those infrequent visitors, whom we would wish to feel particularly welcome amongst us - Christians, non-Christians and those Catholics, who for whatever reason do not attend regularly. The intention is to make the leaflets generally available in the narthex particularly for services such as weddings, funerals and baptisms and we would be very grateful for any comments or suggestions you may have.

PARISH UPDATE FEBRUARY 2019 :
The Diocese is supporting the life of the Parish through a series of events that are available to anyone, who is interested.
The last event on Prayer and Spirituality was on Saturday 16th March in the Cathedral Centre, Salford. Other events will cover Finance / Administration . Buildings and Health & safety: Websites, Social Media and Newsletters; Social Action & Youth ministry. Please see the poster on the noticeboard for dates and venues or contact the Parish Support Team (Mike Davis, Monica Oliver, Briege Sivills, Fiona Dunn Carol Dodgson & Annmarie Thetford)

PARISH OUTREACH NOVEMBER 2018 :
We here at St Vincent's have so much to offer those in need...  a warm welcome , a little time to listen or to talk or maybe something practical like sharing a meal or a small gift.
We have brothers and sisters in our town who have left their homes and families to seek refuge and safety amongst us. Can we reach out to them? We had a presentation by CAFOD on THURSDAY 15TH NOVEMBER TO THE PARISH CENTRE to find out how we might help and contribute to the life of our missionary parish. After an excellent meeting and discussion, a steering group have been formed to plan and organise the way forward. Contact Briege Sivills for more information.

UPDATE OCTOBER 2018  Following a Parish Meeting back in June a small group of parishioners are getting  together to respond to Pope Francis' challenge for us to reach out to each other in love and friendship as the disciples did.
We want to find ways to make our parish even more welcoming and to support those in our local and global communities in practical and prayerful ways. Projects might include, CAFOD, CARITAS , SVP, supporting Refugees and Asylum seekers in our town, working with our Young people and developing good links with our schools.
If everyone did one little thing, our parish would be an even more vibrant place.
Please do come along. Everyone has something to offer and everyone's contribution is valued.
Next meeting Wed 24th October 7.00-8.00pm in the Parish Centre.

June 2018 The 4 groups (Sacramental Programme for Children and Parents, Liturgy & Sacramental Life, Social Life and Outreach) have agreed some activities they would like to progress.  This will involve asking for volunteers and we hope other people will be able to spare their time and skills.
Communication (one way of outreach) was a common point and all Parishioners are invited to just say hello (and optionally introduce yourself) to someone you don’t know each time you enter Church.
If anyone would like more information or to provide support please contact Fiona Dunn (01706 352240 or after 9 a.m. Mass in Tea & Coffee).
The parish is still in need of a Youth Representative (aged 18 – 25), this involves attending Diocesan  gatherings to represent St Vincent’s. If interested please contact Father James.

San_Damiano_Cross_Rev2To quote Bishop John
“The programme is an invitation to every parish in the Diocese to recognise its potential and develop its missionary identity. It is designed to be a 5 stage journey. As the programme unfolds there will be resources that enable every parish, at whatever stage it may be in its development, to strengthen its mission. It aims to nourish those within the parish community while helping to identify what that community may be doing in outreach and service.”

The Five Stages (below) are covered in more detail in the Diocesan Website and are supplemented by detailed resources to support every stage

Stage 1: Celebrating our Parish culminated with the celebration of our Missionary Activity on the First Sunday of Advent
It placed an emphasis on prayer. Invoking the power of the Holy Spirit to engage all people of the Diocese in this process.
Key to this stage was to recognise and celebrate the Missionary Activity that already takes place in our parishes.
Part of this Stage was to seek to engage clergy in renewing and developing leadership styles.
A Big Thank You to each and every one of you for all you do, and all you are, helping to make St Vincent’s a very special place

Stage 2: Harvesting our talents
We need to move forward with the many ministries already in place, which we celebrated on the first Sunday in Advent.  That was the purpose of the meeting on 20th June and there was a great deal of lively discussion and the four groups will be looking for volunteers.
Whilst not everyone will feel able to join a team,  please continue to pray for the Parish and for all people who live within our boundaries.
Stage 3: Living the Sunday Eucharist
Stage 4: Proclaiming the Good News
Stage 5: Sharing the Hope

Stay with us, Lord, on our journey.

Please read more on our HOPE IN THE FUTURE page and more importantly on the Diocesan Website Link above.
